Setting up your expert account
After approval you land on a seven step setup. It fills in your profile and tells Experly how your programs should be shaped, paced and styled. You can change every answer later.

Chapters (12)
Step 1: Tell us about you
Your display name is filled in for you. Add a profile photo (up to 10 MB), a one line specialty that sums up what you do, and a short bio of two to four sentences.
Your specialty is the headline people see first, so make it specific. "Founder Strategy and Decision Making" says more than "Business Coach".
Import your brand from your website (optional)
Enter your website and click Import. Experly reads your landing page and pulls in your logo and brand colors so your profile and programs look like you from day one. You can skip this and add a website later.
Step 2: Pick your categories
Choose up to five categories that match what you teach. Double click one to make it your main category. Your main category decides where you appear in the marketplace, which questionnaire templates you are offered first, and how your programs are built.
Step 3: Program focus
Write a few sentences about the themes, formats or slice of your material you want programs to emphasize. Clients never see this text. It guides how your framework is organized and what programs lean on.
Not sure what to write? Click Suggest a focus and Experly drafts one from what you have told it so far. Edit it until it sounds right. This step is optional, but programs stay much closer to what you actually teach when it is filled in.
Step 4: Content mix
Tell Experly what most of your material will be. It helps recommend templates and tune how programs are put together.
- Mostly video: a yoga or fitness instructor with a video library.
- Mostly text: an author uploading books and articles.
- Mostly audio: a podcaster.
- A mix: a bit of everything. Choose this if you are not sure.
Step 5: Program shape
This is how a program is delivered to each client. Choose how long it runs (up to 14 days or 14 weeks), how often a new section goes out (daily, every two days, weekly, or two or three times a week) and how many lessons each section holds (one to three).
The maximum is 14 sections of 3 lessons, which is 42 lessons. How large a program can get also depends on how much material you upload, because Experly only teaches from your content and will not pad a program with filler.
Teaching style and how content unlocks
Still in step 5, choose how you teach and how clients get access to each section.
- Action heavy: lots of tasks and exercises. Balanced: teaching plus practice. Reflective: more journaling and reflection.
- All at once: clients get everything the day they join.
- On schedule: each section unlocks on its delivery day.
- Complete to unlock: the next section opens when the client finishes the previous one.
- Manual release: you unlock each section yourself when you are ready.
Step 6: Look and colors
Choose where program colors come from. Use the brand colors imported from your website, or pick one of the preset visual styles such as Editorial, Clinical, Warmth or Signal.
Step 7: Program layout
Pick how clients move through a program. You can switch at any time and preview each one on your demo program.
- Classic: lessons listed in a sidebar on the left, the lesson on the right. A good default.
- Action Deck: progress across the top with media first cards below. Great for health, wellness and fitness.
- Executive Split-Screen: reading and working side by side. Suits business and strategy programs.
- Journey Map: a path of lesson nodes with the active one highlighted. Built for habits and transformation.
You are set up
Click Upload content now to go straight to your Content Library. That is the next tutorial.

0:00Welcome
Once you have been approved as an expert at Experly, you will receive an email with a link to your dashboard. When you click the dashboard link for the first time, you'll be taken to an initial setup of seven steps. It's a simple onboarding process to get more information, to build your profile, as well as to prepare your content to be uploaded. So this is what the first
0:22Photo, specialty and bio
page looks like. Your name should be automatically filled in. You can go and upload a photo up to 10 megabytes in size. You just click this, choose your photo. This one's 4.9 megabytes. Very simple, especially headline. You can put whatever you want here, just something that kind of represents who you are. As an expert, I'm just going to paste something in here that I'm a founder for strategy and decision making. And then I'm just going to put a quick little short bio in. You could put any kind of bio you want in. It could be up to four or five sentences long. I founded My Yoga Online. It was one of the very first streaming platforms. I sold that to Gaia. I'm a long time strategic advisor, founder of Experly, and also author of the book Strategic Instinct. So that's kind of my background.
1:05Import from your website
And as a website, you don't have to put a website in now, but I'm going to put one in. And I'm going to put in my Strategic Instinct website where I sell my book and I do one-on-one consulting. Once you enter your website, you can click import. And what it's going to do is it's going to go and scan through your website, just the landing page, and grab any color schemes, logos, anything that represents you as your brand, and help build out your profile. So there's my Strategic Instinct logo. That's the primary colors that are on my site.
1:37Categories
And then you just click continue. So this stage is your category pick section. This is where you're going to pick your main category and up to five categories that you feel that your content represents. So I've got business strategy, I have leadership and management, I've got entrepreneurship, personal growth and mindset, and some AI tech and software. So those are my five. But I'm going to set business and strategy to my main because I clicked it first. It comes up first, but you can click a separate one and double click it and it will become your main. But I'm going to go back to business strategy, and then I'm going to click continue. So I have five categories set here. This will help with placing you in our marketplace, as well as how your programs are developed once your content is uploaded.
2:25Program focus
Step three is all about what your programs should focus on. You want to put a few sentences about the themes, formats, or a slice of content you want the programs to emphasize in your section minus business and strategy. This guides your content framework and program generation. Clients never see this text. And it's recommended that you add a focus to your framework and program stay in line with what you teach. You can still continue without it. It's not a problem. So you don't have to fill this section out. But it really does help you hone your content to what you want to represent with it. I help founders focus on making smart decisions under uncertainty, as well as ways to use AI to simplify their daily processes. Very simple. You can also use our suggest a focus section here where you click this and it will look at what you've uploaded so far and come up with something more complex. It looks like this program empowers founders to navigate complex business landscapes by developing robust decision-making frameworks for volatile markets. So this helps you write something that's going to be more along the lines of what you want to get across. It's grabbing this from the original website that you uploaded and the information you've filled out so far. I'm going to keep this there as
3:33Content mix
is. I like it and I'm going to click continue. Number four is simple step. You don't have, again, if you don't know how this is going to be, you don't worry about the step. I would just choose a mix. But if you're going to have mostly video content that you can upload, like if you're a fitness or yoga instructor and you have just video content, I would choose mostly video. If you're an author and you're just going to upload a book, I would choose mostly text. And if you're just doing podcasts that are audio based, I would do audio. I'm going to do a mix
3:59Program shape
because I'm going to load up a mix of content. The next section is how your programs will be shaped. This is pretty much how the delivery service works. Are you going to be allowing your program to go out daily? Are you going to have it going out weekly, biweekly, every two days? And how many units do you want in a module? The module is what goes out on that specific day and then how many units you have in it. You have a maximum of 14 days, however you want to use them and up to three units per day. So that totals 42 units total. But depending on how much content you upload, you might be limited to how big your program can be because of the limits of we don't want to use, we don't want to make stuff up. We want to use your specific content. And if there's not enough content there, then we can't do that. But for us, we're going to try a daily program. So we're going to click daily and we're going to do 14 days, which is the maximum you could do. And we're going to do three lessons a day or three units a day. And then you want to
5:00Teaching style
put in how do you teach? Are you about action heavy? Meaning that you want to have the client fill out a lot of questionnaires. Do you want balance of teaching and filling out questionnaires or do you want just more journal entries like where they kind of just reflect on what they've
5:16How content unlocks
learned? So I'm just going to keep it on balanced. And then lastly, how does the content unlock for your clients? Do you want it available for them all at once so they can access all the units at once? Do you want it on a schedule? Meaning that when it goes out daily, that's when they receive it. And until that next day comes, they can't access that new content. You can have complete to unlock where each section unlocks after they complete each section automatically. And the manual release where you choose when you want the next section to release. I'm just going to put it on a schedule so that when the content goes out on a daily basis, that's when they get
5:51Look and colors
access to it. Next is a color scheme. This is just a simple look of how the programs look color wise, the framing, the barriers, all that kind of things. You can use the brand colors that it shows from your website. Sometimes it'll add a few complimentary colors to that brand, or you could choose your own visual style based on these six examples here. I'm going to stick with
6:16Program layout
the brand colors at the top here and I'm going to hit continue. Lastly, and this is something we're always working on, is the layout and the template of your programs. The classic has a left-sided toolbar with the content on the right. The action deck shows the progress at the top with the content below it. The executive split shows the navigation on the left and the content on the right. And the journey map shows little icons for each stage that you progress through. As we build out Experly and we get more input from our experts, we're going to improve the look and feel of the programs as they're delivered, as well as the types of exercises that the clients can do. So we'll always be updating that and informing you of these updates as they come along. For now, I'm just going to stick with the classic one because I think that's the best one
6:55Finish and upload content
for beginners. And there we go. Your onboarding is all done. We're all set to go upload content. So when that is complete, just click upload content and we'll be taken to the content section of the website.
Questions about this step
Yes. Program length, delivery schedule, teaching style, unlock rules, colors, layout and client tasks all live under Programs, then Style. Your photo, bio and headline are in your profile editor. Changes apply to programs built after you save.
During setup you choose up to five categories that describe what you teach, and double click one to make it your main category. Your main category decides where you appear in the marketplace, which questionnaire template is recommended first, and how your programs are shaped.
Up to 14 sections with up to 3 lessons each, so 42 lessons at most. Sections can go out daily, every two days, weekly, or two or three times a week. The size you can offer also depends on how much material you have uploaded.
Classic, with lessons in a sidebar, is a good default. Action Deck suits fitness, wellness and quick action programs. Executive Split-Screen suits business and strategy. Journey Map suits habits and transformation. You can switch any time and preview each one on your demo program.
