Frequently asked questions
Straight answers about joining, your content, questionnaires, programs, pricing and payouts.
Joining and setup
Coaches, consultants, teachers, authors and practitioners who already have material they teach from: a book, a course, videos, a podcast, frameworks or articles. You apply with your professional details, website and public profiles, and we review every application to keep quality high.
No. Joining is free, there is no credit card and nothing to pay upfront. The Free plan is free forever. Experly takes a commission only when a client buys one of your programs: 20% on Free, 15% on Pro and 10% on Elite, after card processing. Stripe's payout fees come out of each payout. We make money when you make money.
We review every application within 48 hours and email you the outcome. Adding your LinkedIn and other public profiles helps us verify you faster.
We tell you why and what extra information we need. Usually it is something simple, like a website or profile we could not verify. Send it over and we will take another look.
No. Clients answer your questionnaire and receive a program built from your own material, which you review before it is delivered. No one-on-one time is required, unless you choose to offer it. You can also let clients send you notes from inside their lessons.
Yes. Program length, delivery schedule, teaching style, unlock rules, colors, layout and client tasks all live under Programs, then Style. Your photo, bio and headline are in your profile editor. Changes apply to programs built after you save.
During setup you choose up to five categories that describe what you teach, and double click one to make it your main category. Your main category decides where you appear in the marketplace, which questionnaire template is recommended first, and how your programs are shaped.
Content and your framework
Documents such as PDF, Word and text files, video files, audio, images and links to your own YouTube videos. Books, course material, workshop recordings, podcasts, slide decks and articles all work well. Only upload material you own or are licensed to use.
The Free plan includes 5 GB of storage with files up to 1 GB each, which is enough for a book and several hour long videos. Pro includes 100 GB with files up to 5 GB, and Elite includes 1 TB.
Every upload has a backbone setting from 1 to 10 that tells Experly how central it is to your teaching. Give your core material, such as your book or signature course, a 10 so programs are built around it. Give supporting pieces a 6 or 7 so they add depth without taking over.
When Experly analyzes your library, it counts the distinct, teachable pieces of material it can build lessons from without repeating itself. Those are framework units. The count tells you which program sizes your library can support. The largest plan, 14 sections of 3 lessons, needs 42 lessons.
The Free plan includes two content analysis runs and two framework runs. Pro includes five of each and Elite is unlimited. Upload everything you plan to use first, then analyze once, and you will rarely need a second run.
Experly only teaches from your material and will not pad a program with filler, so it offers only the program sizes your library can fill. Upload more and re-run the analysis, or choose a smaller plan. On Pro and Elite, Knowledge Gap Fill shows where your library is thin and helps you fill those gaps.
Yes. Upload it to your Content Library, then re-run the analysis and rebuild your framework so the new material is included. New uploads are not used in programs until you do.
Yes. After a video uploads, click Segment video and Experly splits it by topic into lesson sized clips with titles and keywords. Open any clip to adjust its start and end points, then approve the clips you want. Only approved clips are used in programs.
YouTube videos are transcribed so their teaching becomes part of your library, but they play in full inside a lesson. If you want a video cut into lesson sized clips, upload the original file instead.
Questionnaires
Every client answers it before their program is built, and their answers decide what the program focuses on. A specific questionnaire is what turns your material into a program built for one person instead of generic content.
Most templates start with about ten, which is a good balance. Ask what you genuinely need to personalize the program, use multiple choice where you can to keep it quick, and use conditional questions so each client only sees what applies to them.
It hides a question unless the client gave a particular answer to an earlier question. For example, you can ask a funding question only to clients whose business is pre-revenue. Conditions can only refer to questions above them, so put the deciding questions near the top.
Yes. Open it from Questionnaires and click Edit. Changes apply to clients who start the questionnaire after you save.
Programs
A complete program built for an invented sample client in your field, using your questionnaire and framework. It shows you exactly what buyers receive, and it is where you write your offer title and description and choose client exercises, colors, layout and font. No real client data is used.
Usually 20 to 30 minutes, and up to an hour for a large library or a detailed questionnaire. You do not need to keep the page open.
Yes. When a client completes your questionnaire and pays, their program is built and you get an email. Open it under Programs, edit anything you want, and approve it. The client receives it after you approve.
Programs are built from your own uploaded material and organized by the framework you approve, so the ideas, examples and language are yours. Your program focus and backbone settings steer them further, and you review every client program before it is delivered.
Up to 14 sections with up to 3 lessons each, so 42 lessons at most. Sections can go out daily, every two days, weekly, or two or three times a week. The size you can offer also depends on how much material you have uploaded.
Classic, with lessons in a sidebar, is a good default. Action Deck suits fitness, wellness and quick action programs. Executive Split-Screen suits business and strategy. Journey Map suits habits and transformation. You can switch any time and preview each one on your demo program.
Only if you want them to. Turn on Coach notes under Client responses and clients can send you a note or question from inside a lesson. Leave it off if you do not offer that kind of support.
Pricing and payouts
You set the price of your program, starting around $19.99, and clients pay once. Experly takes a commission only when a client buys: 20% on the Free plan, 15% on Pro and 10% on Elite, taken after card processing. If nothing sells, you owe nothing.
Free costs nothing, forever, with a 20% commission and preset prices from $19.99 to $99.99. Pro is $39.99 a month with a 15% commission, custom pricing from $9.99 to $499.99, more storage and more analysis and demo runs. Elite is $99.99 a month with a 10% commission, unlimited program pricing and unlimited runs. See the pricing page for the full comparison.
Payments run through Stripe. Connect your Stripe account and your share goes out every Monday for sales at least 7 days old. Card processing comes off the top of each sale, then Experly takes its commission from the rest, so on Free you keep 80% of what's left. Stripe's payout fee (0.25% plus 25¢) and its $2 fee for each month you're paid come out of your payout. Balances under $10 roll over to the next week.
Profile and marketplace
It adds your profile and program to the Experly marketplace so clients who do not know you yet can find you, and it lets search engines index your page. Your share link works whether or not you are listed.
Yes. Edit the URL slug in the Landing Page editor. It has to be unique, and you will see a message if the one you want is taken.
You can add testimonials you already have in the Testimonials tab of your profile editor. When clients leave a testimonial after their program, it waits there for your approval before it appears on your profile.
For clients
A program built for you by an expert you choose. You answer the expert's questionnaire about your situation and goals, and you receive a program made from their own teaching and shaped around your answers, with lessons, exercises and reflection you work through at your own pace.
Open the expert's program page or profile and click Start this program or Start my questionnaire. Create a free client account with Google or email, answer the questionnaire, then complete checkout.
Each expert sets their own price, shown on the program page. It is a one-time payment, made securely at checkout after you finish the questionnaire.
After checkout your program is built from your answers, then your expert reviews and approves it. Once approved it appears in your client dashboard. Depending on how the expert set it up, sections are available all at once or unlock on a schedule.
Yes. Your questionnaire answers decide what your program focuses on, which examples it uses and what exercises you get. Two clients of the same expert receive different programs.
If your expert has turned on coach notes, you can send them a note or question from inside a lesson.
Refund and cancellation terms are set by each expert and shown at purchase. If you have a problem with a program, contact us through the contact page and we will help.
